China is seeing remarkable breakthroughs in the hunt for strategic mineral resources, as sustained financial support for geological survey work marked its fifth straight year of growth in 2025. Official data recorded 200 fresh non-oil and gas mineral deposits uncovered across the country, as outlined in a newly released industry report.
Published by the Ministry of Natural Resources, the China Mineral Resources Report 2026 was unveiled during the China Mining Conference and Exhibition underway in Tianjin. Among these newly identified mineral sites, 63 are classified as large deposits, 57 are medium-sized, and the remaining 80 fall into the small-deposit category. Gold tops the discovery list with 16 new ore zones, followed by iron ore at 11 sites, coal with nine, while manganese and lithium each registered eight new finds.
This expanding wave of mineral exploration activity creates steady market demand for high-performance geological drilling tools. Diamond core bits, PDC bits and matched reaming shells are critical hardware for these field projects. Drilling contractors and exploration teams need durable, formation-adaptable drill bits to secure intact core samples, boost footage rates and cut operational risks when probing these newly mapped mineral zones. Reliable drilling consumables become an essential foundation to turn these mineral discovery plans into practical, efficient field exploration work.
